Jonathan McConkey is 20 (he was actually 19 when this interview was conducted and will be for a day or two after this is posted!) - he's been on a board since he was 13, that's 7 years to save you counting it like a stair set. He rides for Loko Skate Shop, Wireless Skateboards & DC MyCrew.

You travel a fair amount to skate - what came first, the love of travelling or skating?

I've always loved seeing new places and meeting different people so it just kind of fell hand in hand with skating. You go to a different country, or even just a different region of your own country, you meet skaters, go skate with them, party with them, even stay on their sofa or their floor for a while. It's just really sick to have something like that with people you just met, and it's something you rarely find with anything else. If you're a bus driver you can't go to another country and expect bus drivers there to give a fuck about you.

Where all have you visited with your board?

Manchester, Cornwall, London, Paris, Barcelona, all over Ireland and Bordeaux. I actually just got back from Bordeaux, I was there for two weeks with my house mate Pinky. I'd also been there before by myself last year for two weeks, so it was really good to catch up with all my friends out there. Big shout out to Alex and Antoine for letting us crash at their houses!

Where is top of the list to head next?

So many places. Definetly back to Bordeaux for a while. Berlin, New York, San Francisco and Japan have been on my list for a while, but really I just want to go anywhere that's different.

What are your hopes for your life on a skateboard over the next couple of years? Anything lined up?

I just want to keep doing what I'm doing. Travelling and skating, get some photos along the way and maybe film some shit.

How does living with a skateboard photographer change your schedule, do you skate more now or just get more of what you do on film than before?

Well with both of us working full time it's hard to get so much done at home. I skate more, but probably just because I live alot closer to the centre now. Its kinda shit right now cause I always wanna go skate with Pinky but he's still recovering from his injury, so once he's fully healed i'm sure you'll see us out at some small hour of the night skating Lisburn Road like two gay bastards.

Fourstar 'Carroll Pant' Review

The thought of Fourstar apparel already screams 'QUALITY!' to me, every piece of Fourstar clothing I've ever had has been awesome.
It's been hard to not just have this review read 'awesome.' so apologies if I ramble on about how good these are!
I had huge hope for these chinos and from the moment i tried them on, I was smiling, confident that they would be super comfortable to skate in. These were, by far, the skinniest trousers I've skated in in some time but the 2% spandex appeared to be the perfect amount as I felt no restriction while walking, skating or running after my board and there was no crotch tear as I fear in such situations!
Your change will also remain in your pocket when you sit down due to some cunning design!
Not hard to believe they know how to make an awesome pair of trousers to skate in, especially with these signature pants from Mike Carroll and others from Brian Anderson.
My next pair of trousers will definitely be Fourstar too!

Monday night saw the skaters of Belfast and beyond putting their hands in their pockets for charity.
In return they got to see the first screening in Ireland of the new Real video, Since Day One and a chance to win some awesome Real product.

Real's children's cancer charity, Johnny Kicks Cancer are going to benefit from every premier of the video worldwide.
